Gregg County Texas Democratic Women will promote the increased political activity and influence of Democratic women in Texas politics and government.
Gregg County Texas Democratic Women will work to promote increased representation of women in party and government institutions and will promote legislative, executive, and judicial policies that enhance equitable representation of women in party and government affairs.
Section 1. Any Democrat who supports the purpose and bylaws of the organization is eligible for membership.
Section 2. Member is defined as any person who has paid dues to the organization during the current membership year.
Section 1. The officers of the club shall consist of a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. The Executive Board will be composed of the officers, the former president, and any additional board members elected by the organization.
Section 2. The duties of the officers shall be those customarily assigned to like officers in similar organizations and clubs and others deemed necessary by the Executive Board.
Section 3. The officers shall be elected annually by a majority vote of the membership attending a meeting called for such purpose.
Officers shall hold office until the election of their successors. Terms in office shall not exceed two consecutive years. [Amended Dec. 15, 2009] In the event of officer
resignation, the Executive Board shall fill the vacancy with a majority vote.
Meetings shall be scheduled by the Executive Board with proper notification of all members.
Section 1. Membership dues will be established by the membership.
Section 2. Special assessments may be levied of funds solicited, as the membership deems necessary for the effective operation of the organization.
Section 1. All decisions to be made by the Executive Board or membership of the organization shall be made by a majority vote except in those instances specified in the bylaws.
Section 2. Only members in good standing according to Article III shall be eligible to vote.
The club may adopt such bylaws as from time to time it shall deem necessary, provided the membership has received proper written notification. Bylaws shall be adopted when approved by a majority vote of the members in good standing according to Article III at a regular meeting, or at a meeting called by written notice stating the purpose for which the special meeting is called. Proposed bylaw amendments must be sent to the entire membership no later than thirty (30) days before the date of the meeting at which the bylaws will be voted on. No bylaws canbe adopt that conflict with Texas Democratic Women bylaws or the charter granted to this organization by Texas Democratic Women.
The Parliamentary authority shall be the current edition of Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised.
To dissolve this organization proper written notification of a meeting with this specific intent must be sent to the entire membership. A majority vote of all members in good standing according to Article III is required to dissolve this organization. Any assets belonging to this organization shall become the assets of Texas Democratic Women and forwarded immediately upon dissolution.
These bylaws were unanimously adopted on January 6, 2005, as evidenced by the signatures of the founders below signed on January 6, 2005.
